Texas Instruments created the MSP430 Ultra Low Power Microcontroller. What the hell is a microcontroller, you ask? Good question. Yeah, I don't know, either. But I do know that TI has made one that runs on fruit.
This thing is powered by grapes, mangos, lemons -- you name it. Stick the fruit on the end of the metal input thingies and watch as the microcontroller...uh...microcontrols. Ok, so the concept is much cooler than the actual end product. But you know what? Let's see you stick a lemon inside your DVD player and see how awesome that turns out.
I think the true value in this product is the promotional video itself. Two geeks who clearly haven't seen the light of day since last Glamdring was cinematically wielded by its wizard owner have, for some unfathomable reason, been given the task of being the spokesmen for this astounding new technology. They can barely keep from drooling on their hideous shirts as they squawk like pre-pubescent opossums.
At one point one of the geeks says he likes feeding the microcontroller martinis, but under pressure from his fellow freak instantly redacts any implication that he might have actually ever partaken of said martini. These motherf*#kers know how to party.
