With a lot on the line for both fighters and a possible title shot for the winner of this bout, you knew that each man would be bringing his "A" game in order to come out on top. Check out the full fight details after the jump.The continued improvement from Rashad has been evident in his fights as he remains unbeaten in his UFC career.Liddell had looked impressive in his last fight, a war against former Pride champion Wanderlei Silva, and the fans were excited to see who might be fighting for the light heavyweight title not too far down the road.
Each fighter came out energized but very cautious as Liddell waited patiently for Evans to wander in a little too close to his big looping right hand, but Rashad stayed out of harms way and even landed a couple of leg kicks to keep Chuck at bay throughout most of the round. Liddell landed a couple of straight rights but did little damage as the first round chess match came to an end.
The second round started with much of the same but Liddell seemed to grow impatient as he began stalking Rashad in order to find his range with his deadly punch combinations. Rashad seemed to be landing more punches early in the round and then threw a left jab that Liddell attempted to counter with a right uppercut but it was too slow. Rashad came over the top with a huge right hand that landed squarely on the Liddell's jaw that knocked him out cold. The Iceman remained on the ground for a few minutes and eventually came to but the damage had been done.
It now appears that we will see Forrest Griffin defend his title against Rashad Evans for the light heavyweight championship in the future. Check out the post-fight press conference below:
