Miranda Kerr is on fire. She's hot, everywhere and
fast becoming one of the world's top supermodels. The 25 year old recently
joined the modeling elite by becoming a Victoria's
Secret Angel, the first Australian to do so. She has also been compared to fellow countryman
Elle Macpherson. Miranda is afraid of sharks and cotton buds, is known for her
trademark dimples and practices Nichiren Buddhism, a Japanese branch of
Buddhism.Miranda grew up in the tiny rural town of Gunnedah
where she was more interested in racing motorbikes and riding horses than
posing for high-end fashion houses. She started modeling at the age of 13 after
a friend entered her into a magazine’s modeling competition, which she ended up
winning. The resulting photo shoot for Dolly magazine caused some controversy,
with critics deeming the photos pornographic, that she was too young to model
and that pictures “might attract pedophiles”.
Miranda has said she “never thought of modeling as a serious career, just as a
bit of fun. But then I thought if I'm smart about this then I can set myself up
for life. It's a great way to travel, meet new people and make a lot of money
in a short time." To keep herself balanced and to ensure she is not sucked
into the superficial world of international modeling, Miranda practices a
Japanese form of Buddhism. She “chants every morning and night for 20 minutes,
practices yoga, meditates and reads widely on spirituality”. This is something
she has in common with her boyfriend and fellow Buddhist Orlando Bloom.
Victoria’s
Secret photographer Russell James believes Miranda’s success lies in her beauty
and incredible girl-next-door looks. It’s “means women are not intimidated by
her looks and guys think they might be able to talk to her”.
If you had the chance to talk to Miranda Kerr, what would you say?
