UFC

The Compound MMA, Oceanside CA

Dropped into the Compound MMA here in Oceanside for a workout. The owners, Claudia and Frank, and the manager Bill have always been very friendly and very supportive. I probably didn't come across too well the last time I was in. I just want to let them know I'm sorry about that. Like everyone else, I kind of lose sight of things sometimes. I would like to sincerely thank them, and I really appreciate everything.

This is a great facility. Lots of mat room, a cage, and tons of functional equipment. This is where I'm going to be setting up camp when I get back into training in a few weeks.

These are some more pictures from my neighborhood in Oceanside. I like this place.

Cool pics of Oceanside...Everyday looks like it's a nice day there! Living right next to the ocean has gotta be great...I wouldn't ever get anything accomplished if I lived on/near the beach; I'd always want to be there all hours of the day!

    As always, thanks for sharing!

Fabulous pictures! Thank you for sharing them.

My first thoughts: 'Look at that beach! And I bet that sidewalk is busy with runners in the early morning. I'm so jealous. This guy is lucky. He doesn't have to adjust/shut down his running schedule for 7 months of Winter.'

Looks like a great gym. Good luck with your training. You wouldn't happen to have a fight announcement coming up, would you? Or are you just getting in prime condition now for when the call comes?

Thanks for sharing your life with us. Your adventure ended far too soon, but you touched more people than you know.

I've been thinking for the past three days about what I would write concerning your passing...I feel privileged to have had the chance to read into a small glimpse of your life; through all of the years on EvanTanner.net and then later to Spike...My sincere thanks for that...

Although I never had the opportunity to actually know you, the way in which you wrote made everyone seem as though they have known you for years...well, at least that's the way I always felt...I certainly appreciate the effort that you put into your journal with each and every entry...I, for one, am going to miss reading about your adventures and like to think that you found your treasure in the desert before ultimately moving on to a much bigger and more exciting adventure that's beyond this lifetime...

Below, is in my opinion, one of the most inspiring things that I ever read that you wrote...I hope that you were able to experience this:

"The important part, I feel, what I'm going to enjoy the most, is just getting far out, away from civilization, into the quiet of the desert, and standing under the cobalt blue night skies filled with the countless stars. I want to stand under that sky again, that most of us will never have the chance to see in our lifetimes. It is a sky that can only be seen far out in the wilds, far away from the noise, and all the drowning lights of the city. It is a crisp and clean, pure and shimmering. It is a pilgrimage that each of us should take at least once in our lives, a pilgrimage to worship beneath god's sky." - Evan Tanner, August 10, 2008
